A word on taking the impression, as it is the step that worries people the most. The principle is simple: you soften a thermoformable putty, place it in a tray, bite firmly once, then let it harden without moving. The difficulty is not technical; it is in the patience.
Two mistakes happen systematically. Biting too softly results in an incomplete impression of the back teeth, and removing the mold too early deforms it irreparably. In both cases, the final fit will be approximate.
Therefore, plan to redo the operation if the result seems blurry. A failed impression costs a few minutes, whereas an poorly adjusted shell remains uncomfortable for its entire lifetime.
